Idioms #1

A piece of cake - something is very easy (My exam was a piece of cake!)
Not my cup of tea - to dislike smth (It's really not my cup of tea)
To sleep like a dog - to sleep really well (I slept like a dog)
I could eat a horse - to be really hungry 
To be like a fish out of water - to feel out of place (I felt like a fish out of water)
To get ants in his pants - a person who can't sit still for long (He's always got ants in his pants!)
To drink like a fish - to drink to much alcohol (He drinks like a fish)
To smell a rat - to suspect smth suspecious about a situation or a person (I can smell a rat)
The black sheep of the family - someone who is always in trouble and brings shame to his family / someone with a bad reputation (He is the black sheep of the family)
The teacher's pet - the teacher's favourite pupil (He is the teacher's pet)
To feel blue - to feel bored
It's a greek for me - i not understand this

To take the bull by the horns - to make a bold decisionTo lead a dog's life - never do what he wants
It's raining cats and dogs - it's raining very heavily
To make a monkey out of you - to make a fool of you
A bit of a white elephant - something very expensive and useless
The lion's share - the biggest part
As blind as a bat - very short sighted
To be up with the lark - to get up very early
To kill two birds with one stone - to get two things done at the same time

Out of hand - without further consideration
To do smth hand over first - in large quantities
Hand to mouth - impoverished
To lift a finger - to do anything at all for you
To have a finger in every pie - to be involved in many activities
To cost an arm and a leg - cost a huge amount of money
To twist your arm - to force you to agree
To dip your toe in the water - to decide to try membership for a trial
Toe the line - stick to the rules
To see eye to eye - to be totally agree
